Dr. Awadalla completed OBGYN training in Tanta, Egypt, and further training at Ain Shams University in Cairo and Coptic Hospital in Cairo (affiliated with Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology). He then completed 2 years of extra training in minimal invasive surgery under Mr M.Gillmer at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, UK. Dr. Awadalla is proud to train hard, yet take time to celebrate life while delivering babies.
Dr. Awadalla was then invited to James Paton Hospital in Gander Newfoundland to provide minimal invasive surgery , allowing Gander to be an academic site for Memorial University residents. He then moved to Winnipeg in 2004, where he continued to develop and hone his MIS skills. He served as the Chair of the MIS committee from 2012 to 2020. He is proud to have performed over 1000 laparoscopic hysterectomies, and credits the support of all the OR staff.
Dr. Awaalla has been the Chair of the Victoria Hospital Gyne Standards Committee over the last 6 years, ensure best practice provided to all Gynecology patients at that site. He has served as a member of the SOGC Committee for the Gynecology Guidelines from 2014 to 2020, reviewing and updating the more evidence based medicine in our field. He also served as the Chair of the Medical Staff of Manitoba and represented the physicians at Winnipeg the Winnipeg Health Authority Board from 2018 to 2020.
